The Boston Harbor region's network of 19 miles of sandy public beaches are a remarkable resource for regional residents, and an increasingly popular destination for visitors from across the nation and around the world.

This Better Beaches blog highlights some of the dozens of free events and activities that Save the Harbor / Save the Bay's "Better Beaches" program helped make possible in 2009 in waterfront neighborhoods and beachfront communities from Nahant to Nantasket.

Save the Harbor/Save the Bay (SH/SB) is a non-profit public-interest environmental advocacy organization whose mission is to restore and protect Boston Harbor, Massachusetts Bay, and the marine environment for everyone to enjoy.

Boys and Girls and Family Fun

Dorchester:
August 28, 2009: Like the first event in June, the Boys and Girls Club of Dorchester's second Family Fun event on Malibu Beach was a real blast for the kids!

The event featured Moonwalks, face painting, refreshments and blubble machines.
Especially face painting and the bubble machines were a big hit.
